Older installations of Windows 2000 and XP operating systems sometimes reject or are blind to BIG harddrives of 300GB or 500 GB or more. We began to tackle how to get Windows to see the rest of the harddrive in an earlier article about the harddrive barrier, HERE and today, are happy to provide an even more complete answer.
For people searching expressions like
h2. Windows only sees 128 GB or 500GB
h2. My 300 GB harddrive only shows 137 GB
Please begin your solution by reading the earlier article. It really lays the ground work for the video below where we use Windows Partition Wizard to create and Format a usable 151 GB partition from what was first recognized as unusable free space. To get as far as unusable Free Space, we installed Maxtor’s Big Drive Enabler and installed Intel’s Express BIOS updater and rebooted constantly.
Finally, the video you see is the cumulative results of these steps and right-clicking My Computer to access Logical Drives in the MANAGE choice in the Context Menu. If those words were too much for you, contact us or contact your friendly local computer technician so we (remotely) or they can do this for you. Expect a half-hour charge on the billing.
