Online Video Will Move To Downloads

TAGS: , , , , , ,

Downloading videos from the Internet was once considered the only thing to do. When Internet Streaming of online video became easier to code and view, downloading the videos that you saw became passe and an experience of 1999, not 2004 and on to today. There were some years in there when Video Streaming software and code-writing was still too hard to come by though some sites seemed to have had it all together in spades.

A streaming video message online today from the Godfather of the Internet, Vincent Cerf is that Internet traffic, continued talks of net neutrality in the 2008 election in the background and overall, worldwide bandwidth and the energy consumption at the locations where Internet Server computers are will demand, for logical reasons, that videos not STREAM but instead be available for local DOWNLOAD where a user can see them anytime with little to no delay.

When thinking about a computer that you want to purchase and want to last, realistically, for the next four to six years with minimal upgrades, put more emphasis on the capacity of the HARD DRIVE which is measured in Gigabytes (GB). Beyond the GB is TB, Terabytes which is a thousand and twenty-four Gigabytes. If you are a fan of online videos and might someday be forced to download the videos, you will soon discover why Internet Gurus like Mr. Cerf are starting to promote that the USER store all the MB, GB and more of available videos.

Our first mention and explanation of Net Neutrality in an earlier incarnation…

BEET TV’s ironic streaming video of Vincent Cerf forecasting the end of streaming video. Nice touch by the author whose brother (RIP) would have loved to see his friend, Vincent Cerf, interviewed.

Net Neutrality in 2008’s election is hit or miss but comes up sometimes.

The growing popularity of Cloud Computing means doing more online which means greater, phenominal energy demands at those server locations.
