13SEP07 we discussed that Thirtysomething and My So-Called Life producers were pushing a 7 to 9 minute show on MySpace and YouTube and their own site entitled, QuarterLife. It was by no means revolutionary, but it was notable for the fact that big-name producers with credits under their belt of the best show on TV you never watched (My So-Called Life) picked the Internet over the little screen.
Well now, it’s news worthy again for being one of the first shows to get its feet on solid ground with an Internet audience and move on to NBC. At 9PM today, QuarterLife hits TV audiences for the first time in a move that will hopefully signal this pattern repeated with other production ideas. Few stages are better than the finiky, hot-burn stage lights on the Internet. The premise is about six friends in their 20s, all of whom are struggling to make sense of their own lives and find a footing in the adult world.
At the center of things is Dylan (Bitsie Tulloch), whose video blog (on a site also called Quarterlife) stirs up emotions and hurt feelings within the group. Source.
