Our first Above The Fold ‘Late Edition’ with video intro sees a California judge shutting down all of WikiLeaks as a result of ONE offending document offensive to a bank in Switzerland. It is suspected that Julius Baer bank’s former VP posted documents about activities that might include money laundering – the bank is currently in court for allegedly laundering money. Source01.
The most important thing this story currently teaches us is that government still doesn’t understand how the Internet works. The court ruling shut down the group responsible for issuing the name WikiLeaks but not the hosting company that houses the site. A site is always an IP Address like 88.80.13.160/wiki/Wikileaks which is converted to a name for simplicity’s sake. Note of warning: If you plug that IP Address into your browser, there’s an excellent chance that all visits are being tracked. Currently, the Electronic Frontier Foundation has not made a mention of this event. Source02.
